In line with the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program, the Department of Education (DepED) embarks on mass training for grade 5 teachers.

The six-day workshop starts today in three venues – Bohol Public School Teachers and Employees Association, (BPSTEA)Inc., Reynas Haven and Garden, and Bohol Plaza Resort.

Teachers with permanent item handling grade 5 subjects in all public elementary schools province-wide are expected to converge today.

The training, to culminate on Saturday, aims at providing teachers with concrete understanding of the curriculum framework, learning standards and competencies, teaching plans and assessment for the new educational system.

Earlier, Tagbilaran City DepED Division Superintendent, Dr. Virginia C. Zapanta said the entire Division is uptight on the preparations while finalizing also delegates and other concerns for the Palarong Pambansa 2016 in the host city Legaspi in Albay which commences today.

According to Dr. Zapanta, DepEd has conducted the same training seminar in Bogo City. After the training here, the third leg will be set in Carcar City, Cebu. The scheduled seminars are expected to be fully implemented until May 2016.

Expenses for board and lodging, supplies and materials, and other expenses incidental to the conduct of the seminar will be charged against the 2014 continuing HRTD Funds to be downloaded to the SDOs, the DepEd bared. Travel and other incidental expenses of teachers, trainers, management staff, and QAME team members will be charged to local funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
