The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) has started to accept nominees from the 47 towns and one city in the province for the Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon 2016.

Eleno L. Evangelista, head-promotion section-agribusiness division, OPA said the communications to the mayors and municipal agriculturists (MAs) including the guidelines of the search were already sent last March.

Evangelista said the deadline for the submission of entries will be in the last week of June 2016 and the evaluation of the submitted nominees will start on the first week of July 2016.

Categories of the search are: coconut farmer, small animal raiser, large animal raiser, rice farmer (adopting integrated farming), corn farmer (adopting integrated farming), organic agriculture practitioner farmer, fisherfolk (fish capture), fisherfolk (freshwater fishponds), fisherfolk association, farm family, Municipal Agriculture and Fishery Council (MAFC), Farmers’ Association, Outstanding Irrigators Association, Rural Improvement Club (RIC), most outstanding rice-duck farmer, municipal agriculturist/agricultural officer, rice technician, corn technician, HVCDP technician, livestock technician, fishery technician, high value commercial crop farmer (vegetable), most outstanding Japonica rice farmer, outstanding Ka-Abag practitioner, outstanding hybrid rice farmer, and outstanding organic agriculture farmers group.

It is expected to have a problem on the submission of nominees considering the effect of dry spell to agriculture sector, Evangelista said.

The Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon has been initiated by the provincial government to recognize the accomplishments of the Boholano farmers and also to enjoin them to remain committed to being the best and to continuously strive for work excellence in the field of agriculture. (Atoy Cosap)
