Prices of school supplies should not exceed the suggested retail prices (SRP) set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bohol Provincial Office.

Joe Hibaya, Chief of the Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Dvision made public the price range of school supplies that cover composition, writing and spiral notebooks, Grade 1-4 school writing pads, intermediate papers, crayons, ballpens, pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners.

Hibaya told DYRD Balita that the price of an 80 page notebook shall range between P11.00 – P31.00, eight crayon pack P8.75 – P21.75 depending on the brand and ballpens from P4.00 to P31.75 per piece.

The DTI warned businessmen not to take advantage of the pre-school opening rush for school supplies.

Consumers are encouraged to take advantage of mall sales of school supplies held a week before school opens and parents to get their school supplies for their children before the mad rush typical of school openings, according to Hibaya. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Allen Doydora)
