Hell hath no fury like a man scorned when a habal habal (motorcycle taxi) driver exacted a “lover’s revenge” by raping the woman he professed to love.
Crisanto Areso, 29, was arrested by elements of the Ubay Police Station after a 29-year-old single mother with two kids reported to the police that she was raped by Areso on Sunday evening, May 22, 2016.
The alleged rape victim told the police that Areso was courting her but gave him the cold shoulder.
Persistent, Areso offered to drive her home at her rented house in Barangay Tapon, Ubay after work at a motor work shop.
The victim narrated that instead of bringing her home, Areso brought her to an abandoned hut in Sitio Cabaasan, Barangay Tapon and raped her.
After the incident, she was brought by the suspect to his mother’s house where she made her escape and made her way to the police station.
Immediately, the police launched a manhunt led by Police Officer 3 Crisanto Polinar that led to the arrest of Areso at the house of his live in partner at dawn of May 23, 2016.
Areso is now detained at the Ubay Police Station lock-up jail pending filing of rape charges at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Rey Tutas)
