24 minor and 1 major prize is up for grabs as Bohol dangles the Galing Purok Awards and resets final submission of nominations until June 10.
The awards, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Carmelita Tecson said, is to accord government recognition to puroks that have distinguished themselves in the performance of their roles and responsibilities in the achievement of innovations and local government initiatives development.
The awards can also encourage the puroks to document their best practices and programs to replication to LGUs intending to enhance their services, Tecson, whose office sits as chairman of the awards bared.
The 24 minor awards include Best Purok Center, Model Purok Leader, Model Purok Secretary, Outstanding Purok for Environment Management Project, Outstanding Purok Program Against Illegal Drugs, Outstanding Purok Information System, Outstanding Purok Faith, Hope and Charity.
Outstanding Purok Sectoral Working Committee for DRRM, Outstanding Purok on Rabies Diseas Prevention and Control, Outstanding Purok for Nutrition, Outstanding Purok Program for Vulnerable Sector.
Model Purok Power Sectoral Working Committee Volunteer for Education, Model Purok Power Sectoral Working Committee Volunteer for Youth Leadership, Model Purok Power Sectoral Working Committee Volunteer for Health, Model Purok Power Sectoral Working Committee Volunteer for Tourism and Livelihood.
Best Purok Power Movement Partner Municipality, Best Purok Power Movement Partner Barangay, Best Purok Power Movement Partner Agency, Model Purok Power Movement Community Organizer, Model Purok Power Peace and development Team member.
Model Purok Power Movement Peace and development Team, Best Purok Power Peace and Development Team, Best Purok Power Movement ProTEAM, Model Purok Power Movement Pulis sa Barangay and Best Purok Power Movement Public Safety Maneuver Team.
All these minor awards however make up the Best Purok Award, to which, according to Tecson, is for those who attain the highest over-all ratings from categories applicable to puroks.
The same executive Order 1 dated January 25, 2016 which Governor Edgar Chatto signed, also detail the scope and mechanics of the award covering Bohol puroks in its 1109 barangays.
Section 6 of the executive order detail the basic criteria for the consideration of the committee in picking up the nominees which have passed the barangay and municipal evaluation committees, Tecson said over at Kapihan sa PIA aired over DyTR.
Best Purok and its category winners get P50,000 in cash and plaque.
Runner ups for Outstanding Puroks for Environmental management, program for illegal drugs, information system, Faith Hope and Charity, Social Working Committee (SWC) for DRRM, Rabies Disease prevention and Control, Nutrition and best program for Vulnerable sector each gets P20,000, P15,000 and P10,000.
Meanwhile, Best Purok Power Movement (PPM) Partner municipality, Partner Barangay and Agency get P15,000 and group awards like two awardees for Best PPM Peace and development Team get P10,000 each, 6 awardees for PROTEAM get P30,000 each and two awardees for Public Safety Maneuver Team get P10,000 each.
Individual category awardees like Model Purok Leader, Purok Secretary, Sectoral Working Commitee volunteer for education, Youth leadership, health, tourism and livelihood, community organizer, Peace and Development Team member and Pulis sa Barangay winners each gets P5,000.
Those interested to nominate may get the nomination forms at the Office of the Governor in Tagbilaran and its satellite offices in Carmen, Ubay, Talibon and Jagna, Office of the mayors, OPSWDO, MLGOOS and can be downloaded from www.bohol.gov.ph, according to the OPSWDO. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
