A man in Barangay Monte Suerte, Carmen was hacked to death with a bolo by his companion after the two and another man engaged in a heated debate during a drinking session at 2pm yesterday, June 14, 2016.

According to the Carmen police, the three men were debating about the bible when the suspect Rolito Tabli got irate and smashed the victim Rey Limbaga’s head with a soft drink bottle.

While Limbaga was unconscious from the blow, Tabli went home and came back with a bolo to repeatedly hack the victim, said Mario Canino, a brangay tanod who was at the scene.

The tanod was reportedly unable to restrain the suspect as he used his bolo to repeatedly slash Limbaga.

Peter Balintos who was with Limbaga and Tabli during the drinking session reportedly fled the crime scene out of fear even before the hacking started.

Balintos, Limbaga, and Tabli started drinking after having lunch and working at a nearby rice paddy.

Based on his wounds, the police noted that the victim was hacked twice in the head and slashed multiple times in other parts of the body including his right shoulder which was split in half and could have been the cause of death.

After the incident, the suspect fled to a neighboring barangay, but was immediately apprehended by the police which conducted a hot pursuit operation.

The police filed appropriate charges against the suspect today, June 15. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
