Two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle greeted a 17-year-old with a gunshot to the belly just two hours before his 18th birthday yesterday in Candijay.
The victim, Violito Musiko, was sitting in a park in the said town when the suspects suddenly stopped in front of him and shot him, said Inspector Gerald Luna, chief of the Candijay Police Station.
The suspects immediately fled towards an unknown direction.
Musiko, a resident of Park 5, Barangay Ablihihina of the said town, was rushed to the hospital sustaining a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
According to Luna, the victim has a number of crime records with the police which includes theft, robbery, sexual assault, and breaking and entering.
A number of Musiko’s victims did not bother filing cases against him as he was a minor when the crimes were committed.
The victim is also known to be a delinquent in Barangay Ablihihina.
Authorities are currently considering retaliation as the motive behind the shooting of Musiko, Luna said. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
