Policemen in the province will undergo random drug testing in efforts to sift out the users in the local force and clean up its ranks.
The drug testing will include all personnel of the entire province’s police offices, said Supt. Ricky Delelis, Public Information Officer and Deputy Chief for Operations of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO).
The local police force seeks to remove erring cops who use illegal drugs particularly as incoming President Rodrigo Duterte is set to start his term in just a week and implement the mandatory drug testing in the first day of July.
Final preparations are being readied by the authorities to set the operation in motion, Delelis said.
The BPPO does not want its personnel to be involved in illegal activities to maintain the public’s trust in the local police force, he added.
In Cebu City, police are also set to conduct random drug testing on its ranks after a policeman in the city was identified as an illegal drug user.
Meanwhile, Delelis said that the Bohol police will sustain its intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign to continue bringing down those behind the illegal drug trade in the province. (with reports from Rey Tutas)
