A continuing surge of illegal drug dependents and dealers in the city has been confirmed by a list submitted to the Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS) by just one of the 15Â barangays.
The initial list covers 94 suspected addicts and pushers in Bool alone while Tagbilaran City is listed among the ten “deeply infiltrated” areas in the province.
Senior Police Officer lV (SPO4) Yolando Bagotchay Jr. of the Intelligence section of the TCPS told DYRD Balita that they are still awaiting the list from the 14Â other barangays.
To date, 135 drug dependents and pushers have been identified by police authorities after deep surveillance operations were conducted in a long period of time.
Under intense police anti-drug operations, 55 drug personalities have been nabbed since last year in addition to arrests for other criminal activities.
Bool is the first barangay who complied with the request of the TCPS for a list of suspected drug dependents and drug dealers in their area.
According to police intelligence, Barangay Cogon, the largest barangay in terms of population with 17,750 falls under “deeply infiltrated” with drug dens, distribution points and drug syndicates proliferating in the area.
Community cooperation has been heightened by tips provided to police authorities that stemmed the tide of illegal drug activities in the city. (Chito M. Visarra with reports from Rey Tutas)
