15 bid farewell to mayoral posts

A total of 15 mayors in the province ended their terms while 30 new local executives officially started to hold office as leaders of their respective towns today.

Of the 15 outgoing mayors, nine are on their last terms while six were not successful in their bids for re-election.

Defeated then-incumbents are Roberto Tabanera of Cortes, Galicano Atop of Ubay, Ernista Digal of Sevilla, Francisco Pepito of Batuan, Metodio Amper of Anda, and Ester Tabigue of Mabini.

Former mayors Alvin Uy of Baclayon, Leoncio Evasco Jr. of Maribojoc, Lloyd Peter Lopez of Loon, Sulpicio Yu of Calape, Rosemarie Imboy of Loay, Ma. Fie Piezas of Guindulman, Ray Nino Boniel of Bien Unido, Tesalonica Boyboy of Carlos P. Garcia (CPG), and Claudio Bonior served their last mayoral terms until earlier today.

Of all the former Bohol mayors, only Velasco reached the national government as President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet secretary.

Three of the last termers have been elected as vice mayors in their respective towns namely Lopez, Yu, and Piezas while Uy and Bonior did not run in the last elections.

Boniel was elected as board member in the second district and Boyboy is now a councilor in CPG. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
