An alleged drug pusher was caught in possession of illegal drugs at around 12am today by the Getafe police during a saturation drive conducted at the island barangay of Pandanon in the said town.
The suspect, identified as Bernardo â€œBernadetteâ€ Oporto, 52 and a resident of the said barangay, was the only one caught among a group of suspected drug personalities gathered at an area in Pandanon.
According to SP04 Tito Tradio of the Getafe Police Station, the operatives conducted a saturation drive or a concentrated patrol of officers in a small area in the island barangay when they spotted a crowd at the vicinity which immediately dispersed upon seeing the policemen led by Senior Inspector Ildefonso Miranda.
The police was able to catch up with Oporto and arrest the suspect who is originally from Barangay Talamban Cebu City.
The authorities found four packets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia upon frisking the suspect.
A charge for the illegal possession of prohibited drugs, a violation of Section ll of RA 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, is now being prepared against the suspect who is detained at the lockup jail at the Getafe police office, Tradio said.
