A man with a mental condition took his own life by hanging himself with a shoelace inside his home in Barangay Talisay, Cabilao Island in Loon.

According to the Loon police investigation, the victim, Leocris Dobleros, 47 and a resident of the said barangay, was believed to be missing for almost a week but was found dead on Sunday, July 3, 2016 inside his room.

The body of Dobleros was already starting to decompose causing it to emit foul odor and lead the policemen to discover the corpse.

The foul smell caught neighbors’ attention but they initially dismissed it as odor from a dead animal.

However, the police noticed that the odor came only from the residence of Doblero prompting them to search the home and leading them to discover the lifeless body of the victim.

The victim’s elderly mother, Leonar Doblero, previously told neighbors that his son had been missing.

Authorities did not find elements of foul play in the incident. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
