Two suspects in the island-barangay of Cuaming in Inabanga were arrested for illegal drug use days after they yielded to police and pledged to cut involvement in illegal drug activities.
The Inabanga police caught Danilo Minguito, 37, and Jerbie Minguito, 28, in the act of having a pot session inside the former’s home in the said barangay while the operatives were conducting Oplan Tokhang.
Authorities were supposed to visit the elder Minguito when they noticed the two sniffing suspected shabu with another companion who was able to escape arrest.
Police found one pack of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.
According to the Inabanga police chief, Senior Inspector Rolando Antipolo, the elder Minguito is included in the police watch list of drug personalities in the town.
Minguito has already pledged to stop drug involvement after he was subjected to Oplan Tokhang, Antopolo said.
However, when police followed up on Minguito’s case, they found out that he continued to use illegal drugs.
The two suspects are in the custody of the Inabanga police and will be facing charges for violating Section 11 and Section 12 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (with reports from Willy Maestrado)
