Tagbilaran City will not participate in the Sandugo Street Dancing Competition, which now has a specific theme of Kuradang, due to the supposed city participants’ difficulty in coping with the new criteria of the contest, the city administrator said.

This year’s Sandugo dance competition required participants to specifically perform a Kuradang-themed dance which necessitated more practice time from the Tagbilaran City representatives, said Leonides “Edi” Borja, Tagbilaran City administrator.

According to Borja, the Tagbilaran City contingent did not have enough time to practice their Kuradang routine which prompted the team to back out from the contest.

The city is also used to having winners of the Tagbilaran City Saulog Street Dancing represent it in the Sandugo competition which would only require the contingent to furnish its routine for the July festival.

As the city and other competitors are required to present a specific dance, the winning Saulog team would have had to spend more money and time for practice.

Borja said that Tagbilaran City will be prepared for next year’s Sandugo competition and that it will have an assigned team for the month-long festival’s dance competition. (with reports from Allen Doydora)
