The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) inaugurated today a satellite office in Bohol, answering the provincial government’s appeal of having a branch established in the province.
Regional Director of CHED 7 Dr. Freddie Bernal formally announced the opening of the department’s Bohol office during the commemoration of the 162nd foundation day of the province held at the Bohol Cultural Center.
Governor Edgar Chatto and Bernal led the inauguration of the satellite office which was also attended by provincial and city officials.
According to Bernal, the establishment of the office is an example of the new national administration’s efforts to effect change and improve the government’s service.
Bernal, who was among the foundation day’s honored guests, said that the satellite office is intended to provide convenience to Boholanos who previously had to travel to CHED’s regional office in Cebu for appointments.
Processes such as scholarship applications will no longer be delayed with the satellite office located in downtown Tagbilaran City, he said.
The CHED office in Bohol is located at the Department of Education Bohol Division office in the CPG Sports Complex.
The provincial government of Bohol previously requested CHED to establish the office to save Boholanos from the hassle of travelling to Cebu for transactions and appointments with the department. (Rey Tutas)
