A 58-year-old woman was hacked by her own son while asleep in their living room past midnight today, July 27, 2016 in Barangay Tiptip, Tagbilaran City, police authorities said.
According to PO2 Max Dexter Bacolot, investigator of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, Cipriano Llorente, 37, single and jobless, slashed his mother Jerihilia Llorente in the mouth with a bolo.
The mother was asleep with her two siblings when the attacked occurred.
The suspect, according to his younger brother, is mentally ill and is taking medication.
The victim is now confined at the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) while her son is detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
Physical injury charges are now being readied by police authorities against Llorente.(Chito M. Visarra and Rey Tutas)
