Score of drug arrests amid Oplan Tokhang

More drug personalities who earlier yielded through Oplan Tokhang figured in the weeklong rounds of buy-bust operations.

The police score nets 23 drug personalities over the week, one of them killed in a shootout.

Tagbilaran operations topped the drug haul with eight persons arrested, six of them busted in one occasion.

At around 12:30 a.m. on August 12, the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Bohol Police Provincial Office and the Tagbilaran City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) arrested two persons subjected to a buy-bust operation and four others in cahoots with them in Poblacion 3.

City chief of police, Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr. identified the arrested persons as Romeo Blanco, 53, and Rogelio Ancog, 54, both from Katipunan St. in Mansasa District, Tagbilara City; Cesar Pamaong, 46, of Tabalong, Dauis; Rommel Arcamo, 50, of Poblacion 3, Tagbilaran City; Ricky Geraldoy, 37, of Calceta St. in Cogon District, Tagbilaran City; and Alman Oslay, 45, of Gallares St., in Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City.

The composite police team recovered from their possession, six big packs and 14 small packs of shabu with estimated weight of 30 grams, a .357 caliber revolver with six live ammos, three digital weighing scales, and several drug paraphernalia.

Also in Tagbilaran, at around 12:10 p.m. on August 10, the CAIDSOTG arrested one Eric Arbuladora in a buy-bust operation at CPG East Avenue in Mansasa District.

Arbuladora, a 37-year-old jobless resident in the area, yielded three sachets of shabu in addition to the sachet of shabu he handed to the poseur-buyer, and the 500-peso bill used as marked money.

On the same day, the city police team caught a person- -tagged in a complaint of estafa- -in possession of a sachet of shabu.

In an entrapment operation relative to the complaint of estafa at 3:58 p.m. at Pamaong St. in Cogon, the city police intelligence personnel arrested one Melvin Cericos, and when frisked the latter yielded the sachet of shabu.

In Talibon, at around 11 a.m. yesterday, the municipal anti-illegal drugs special operations task group (MAIDSOTG) of Talibon arrested one Edwin Avila- -also known as Jun Patay- -through a buy-bust operation at his residence in barangay San Jose, in coordination with the Bohol team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 regional office.

The police team caught 24-year-old Avila handing a sachet of shabu to the poseur-buyer in exchange of P200.

The police team swooped down to the area, prompting the Avila to run, but the back-up team cornered him near the barangay road.

Aside from the small sachet of shabu that he handed to the cop posing as buyer, the police team also recovered five more small sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money from his possession when they frisked him.

The police team of Talibon also arrested three persons in an earlier buy-bust operation on August 9 in barangayTanghaligue.

Senior Insp. Norman Nuez, officer-in-charge at Talibon Police Station, identified the arrested persons as one Liezl Garcia and her live-in partner, certain Adonis Yana, and one of their two companions identified as Mark Parmis.

The municipal police confirmed their illegal activities based on a two-week surveillance operation.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday last week, Nuez received a text message informing that several motorcycle-riding men believed to be drug dependents came to the couple’s newly-constructed nipa hut in barangay Tanghaligue.

The MAIDSOTG then arranged an entrapment operation and at around 5:45 p.m., the cops posing as buyers transacted with Garcia and Yana outside their nipa hut, together with two men.

Right upon the signal of the poseur-buyers that Yana and company had already handed the shabu, the back-up police team positioned nearby swooped down on them.

Garcia, a 40-year-old married woman is a resident in the area, while her live-in partner, Yana, is a 30-year-old resident of barangay San Isidro; while Parmis is a 19-year-old resident of barabgay Sto. Niño.

Parmis was seen brandishing a short-caliber firearm believed to be a cal. 38 revolver.

Aside from the sachet of shabu, the subject of the buy-bust, the cops also recovered more packs of shabu from the arrested persons.

In searching Garcia’s bag, the cops found the two marked 100-peso bills, one medium-size pack of shabu, and nine small sachets of shabu.

When they frisked Yana, they found two sachets of shabu inside his right pocket.

From Parmis, the cops recovered a dilapidated Smith and Wesson caliber .38 revolver loaded with two rounds of ammos- -one misfired and another live, and a small sachet of shabu when they frisked him.

Six persons were also arrested on the same day in five buy-bust operations in other towns.

At around 2 p.m. on August 9, elements of Clarin Police Station arrested the drug personality ranking 5th in the priority targets in the town during a buy-bust operation in barangay Nahawan.

 Police Inspector Fernando Peroramas, Clarin chief of police, identified the arrested person as one Jovanie Soliano- -also known as Pader- -a 35-year-old, resident of barangay Nahawan.

Peroramas said Soliano had already yielded to authorities earlier through Oplan Tokhang, but had been monitored to have “returned to his usual illegal activity of selling illegal drugs”.

Soliano was caught handing a small sachet of shabu to the poseur-buyer in exchange of P200.

When the cops frisked him, the two 100-peso bills used as marked money was recovered from his possession along with three more small sachets of shabu.

The inventory was conducted at the police station in the presence of Gaspar Dangoy- -representing the Department of Justice, Barangay Kagawads Socorro Bustamante and Melchora Delgra.

The arrested person is now detained at the detention cell of Clarin Police Station, while the seized white crystalline substances were submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory at Camp Dagohoy for examination and analysis.

At about two hours later, the anti-illegal drugs unit of Baclayon arrested on Ramon Gonzaga during a buy-bust operation in barangay Guiwanon.

During the operation, the police operatives recovered two small sachets of shabu from him, one of which was the one he handed to the poseur-buyer; the buy-bust money of P200; and aluminum tin foils.

In another buy-bust operation at around 7:30 p.m. in barangay Taguihon, Baclayon, the police team arrested one Jeffrey Mahawan- -also known as Jefrox- -a 38-year-old resident of barangay Guiwanon.

Aside from the small sachet of shabu that the poseur-buyer had bought from him, the cops also recovered the two marked 100-peso bills, one more small sachet of shabu, and two rolled aluminum foil strips placed inside a matchbox from his possession.

According to Baclayon police, Mahawan had earlier yielded through Oplan tokhang but continued selling shabu.

In Inabanga earlier of the day, elements of the municipal police arrested two residents of barangay Nahawan, Clarin in a buy-bust operation in barangay U-og.

Police Senior Insp. Marcos Lopes of Inabanga Police Station identified the arrested persons as Christian Mejo, 36, who was the subject of the buy-bust, and  his companion identified as Benedicto Lantafe, 32 years old.

At around 10 a.m., also on August 9, the MAIDSOTG of Lila Police Station, led by PInsp. Lito Rosales, arrested one Sisenando Lagrosa Jr. after confiscation of sachets of shabu during a raid in his residence in barangay Bonkokan Ilaya.

Lagrosa, 31, is also known as Dodot, married and jobless.

The raiding team seized eight small sachets of shabu with estimated value of P4,000 from his house.

At around 1 a.m. in Guindulman yesterday, the MAIDSOTG arrested one Jerryme Olaso in a buy-bust operation in barangay Sawang.

The police team caught Olaso, a 33-year-old resident of barangay Tabajan, handing a sachet of shabu to the poseur-buyer.

When the cops frisked him, they found the 500-peso bill used as marked money, nine medium-size sachets of shabu from his right pocket.

According to the police, Olaso had already yielded himself through Oplan Tokhang on July 4, but continued to sell drugs, prompting the buy-bust operation.

In Buenavista on August 10, a buy-bust operation turned out into a shootout when the subject resisted arrest.

The subject, Donald Torregosa, a 38-year-old resident of barangay Hunan, pulled his firearm tucked in his waist when the cops positioned to arrest him after he handed a sachet of shabu to the poseur-buyer.

He then pointed it to the poseur-buyer, but the back-up team shot him before he could pull the trigger.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered the Armscor 202 cal. 38 with serial no. 1029492 that Torregosa used with five live ammunitions in its cylinder, two medium-size sachets of shabu placed in a small cap that was the subject of the sale, and the 500-peso bill used marked money from his possession.

The police team rushed Torregosa to Dagohoy Hospital in Inabanga, but the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police Inspector Benicer Tamboboy said Torregosa ranked 4th in their watch list of drug personalities.

Also on August 10, the police team of Cortes arrested on Norman Zapatos, a 38-year-old drug personality who had earlier yielded through Oplan Tokhang, in a buy-bust operation at around 11:50 p.m. in barangay Dela Paz.

The cops recovered a medium-size sachet and four small sachets of shabu from Zapatos, along with the P300 buy-bust money.

In barangay Doljo, Panglao on the same day, the MAIDSOTG arrested one Radrigo Clemen- -also known as Ondoy, and Pogs to some- -in a buy-bust operation conducted at around 6:20 p.m.

According the police, Clemen allegedly refused to yield through Oplan Tokhang.

The buy-bust team confiscated one small sachet of shabu and the 500-peso bill used as marked money from Clemen during the operation; and two more small sachets of shabu when they frisked him.

On the same day in Dauis, the PIB and the MAIDSOTG arrested Jesse Masalta and Ronald Hora in a buy-bust operation at around 2:30 p.m. in barangay Totolan.

The cops confiscated 12 small sachets, one medium-size pack and one big plastic pack containing shabu with estimated weight of 32 grams and estimated value of P377,600.

On August 8, at around 10:45 p.m., the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) of Tagbilaran Police Station arrested a student in a buy-bust operation at CPG North Avenue, Cogon District.

PSupt. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr. identified the arrested person as one Vincent Millana, also known as Poloy, a 23-year-old resident of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

Aside from the sachet of shabu he handed to the poseur-buyer, the cops also confiscated from his possession, the 500-peso bill used as marked money, a medium-size sachet of shabu, and three more small sachets of shabu.
