Big-time pusher shot dead in Brgy. Booy; Cops seize P250T shabu

An alleged big-time drug pusher who yielded 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P250,000 was shot dead in a buy-bust operation conducted by Tagbilaran City police in Barangay Booy.

The suspect, 25-year-old Edgar Sarmiento, a resident of Brgy. Mansasa, pulled out and shot his .38 caliber firearm at a police operative prompting the authorities to fire back, killing the alleged pusher.

According to police, Sarmiento drew and fired his weapon after suspecting that he sold drugs to a police poseur-buyer.

The undercover cop was able to purchase P500 worth of suspected shabu from Sarmiento, police said.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered the suspect’s .38 caliber pistol which was loaded with four live rounds and a fired shell still lodged inside the gun’s barrel.

Also apprehended during the buy-bust were the suspect’s companions, 24-year-old Rio Joy Magparo and 20-year-old Juvy Banglao, who is believed to be  Sarmiento’s girlfriend.

Magparo and Bangalao along with the 16-year-old sibling of the latter were caught engaging in a pot session.

Police recovered from them one sachet of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia. (Allen Doydora)
