Three detainees facing illegal drug charges escaped from a detention facility of a police station in the town of Trinidad on Sunday morning.

According to the Trinidad police, the three escapees bolted out of jail by sawing off the metal bars of their detention cell.

The suspects, all residents of Talibon, were identified as Adelfo Cosino of Brgy. Mahagbo, Reynaldo Sayson of Brgy Soom and Jayson Bayonas of Barangay Guinubatan.

Authorities assigned at the police station noticed that the three were missing at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

They said that they became suspicious after noticing that the three had not awoken by the time, prompting them to inspect the cell.

They discovered that those on top of the escapees’ sleeping areas were pillows covered with sheets and made to look like people.

The Trinidad police also noted that the jail guard was likely to have not noticed the noise made by the suspects as it was raining heavily during the time of the escape.

Municipal policemen immediately launched a manhunt operation against the suspects following the discovery of their escape.

All three are facing charges for violating Sec. 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities said that three escapees have previously surrendered through Oplan Tokhang but continued to sell illegal drugs. (Allen Doydora)
