Ubay man hacked to death after wedding drinking spree

A man was hacked to death by his neighbor following an altercation at a wedding on Thursday evening in Barangay Tipolo, Ubay.

Police identified the hacking victim as Jesem Rosal, 28, and the suspect as Paterno Boiser, both residents of the said village.

According to police, Rosal and Boiser attended a wedding of their neighbor together and engaged in a drinking session during the affair.

While drinking, the two reportedly got into a heated argument regarding a conflict between them which happened several years ago.

Witnesses said that the suspect went inside his house following the altercation and returned carrying a bolo which he used to hack Rosal.

Rosal sustained several hack wounds in his head and body while Boiser left the vicinity as the victim collapsed.

The victim was rushed to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City following the incident but after fighting for his life for several hours, succumbed to his injuries at 9 a.m. Friday.

Bosier immediately surrendered to authorities after he allegedly hacked Rosal.

He is currently detained at the lock-up jail of the Ubay police station pending the filing of charges against him. (Allen Doydora)
