Once the Albur Cluster Sanitary Landfill (ACSLF) starts its operations, Tagbilaran City will able to dispose tons of residual waste each day at the said facility.

Lito Taladua, chief of the City Waste Management Office (SWMO), told DYRD Balita on Thursday that they will be able to leave six tons of residual waste at the landfill located in Barangay Dangay, Albur.

Tagbilaran City will likely be disposing the said amount of waste each day based on the WACS or the Waste Analysis and Characterization Study made by the SWMO.

Special wastes such as such as paints, batteries, electronics and oil, among others will be disposed at the dumpsite in Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City which is set for further development.

According to Taladua, the public should start to separate special waste to avoid adding to the workload of garbage collectors who have not been directed to do the segregation themselves.

He said that he is optimistic that the ACSLF would start to accept the disposal of residual waste soon to address Tagbilaran City’s longstanding problem of waste disposal.

The ACSLF dry run is still ongoing and will continue for five more days to ensure that operations involving the landfill run smoothly. (Rey Tutas)
