The Tagbilaran City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution that would require appointees and officials of the city government to undergo random drug testing.

The resolution was passed during the SP’s regular session on Thursday as means to support President Rodrigo Duterte’s drive against illegal drugs.

Once approved, the mayor, vice mayor, councilors, barangay officials and City Hall employees will be subjected to random drug testing.

The resolution was passed by Councilor Dodong Agalon Polinar and was supported by his colleagues in the city council.

Last year, city officials led by Mayor John Geesnell Yap were subjected to drug testing.

All officials who joined the drug testing were found negative of any drug traces. (Allen Doydora)
