A poultry house inside the Demo Farm in Maribojoc was razed when a lightning struck it at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Based on investigation, the wall of the poultry house which is made of light materials was partly hit by lightning causing it to ignite.
The fire reportedly spread swiftly due to strong winds burning down the entire poultry house.
According to the farm’s caretaker, he was unable to attend to the fire as the flames spread abruptly.
The fire lasted for 30 minutes as responding firemen were held up due to difficulty in reaching the area which is far from the main road.
Authorities estimated the damages to property at P30,000.
However, no one was injured while the chickens inside the poultry farm were also unharmed.
Many parts in Bohol experienced heavy rains while a thunderstorm also affected several areas of the province on Sunday evening.
