Police from the province of Cebu on Wednesday raided the home of radio broadcaster Alan Estoque Mangmang, a former barangay captain in Songculan, Dauis, for alleged possession of high-caliber firearms.

Police officers from the Crime Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-7 searched Mangmang’s residence bearing a warrant issued by Presiding Judge Hon. Alma Sinco of RTC branch 12, Cebu City.

The search warrant directed police to seek a .45 caliber firearm, a KG9 submachine pistol, a 9mm submachine gun and ammunition.

However, the operatives did not find illegal firearms inside Mangmang’s residence in Purok 4 Riverside, Brgy. Songculan, Dauis.

The raiding team led by P/Supt. Fermin Almendares III reportedly only found a loaded 9mm pistol which was shown by Mangmang, but the firearm had complete papers and license.

Mangmang has an expired permit to carry the pistol but he claimed that he has not been taking the gun with him.

Prior to the raid, Mangmang’s lawyer Atty. Victor dela Serna arrived at the broadcaster’s home and demanded that police leave their firearms and bags outside the house before conducting the search.

The operatives reportedly complied.

In an interview with DYRD Balita, Mangmang said that the raid was a form of harassment plotted by politicians.

According to Mangmang, the raid was an injustice and that he will be filing a complaint against the individual behind the raid against him.

He said that the move was devised to silence him and stop his criticisms against some politicians.
