A total of P2.1 billion from the Bohol Earthquake Assistance (BEA) 2 fund is expected to be released soon and allocated to remaining rehabilitation projects in the quake-hit province.
According to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Dir. Maria Loisella Lucino, the fund is already with the Office of the Civil Defense pending the submission of program of works (POW) by local government units.
Lucino said that the P2.1-billion budget will be allotted to flood control programs, rehabilitation of water systems and the construction of concrete municipal and barangay roads.
A 2.3 billion fund from the BEA 1 had already been released and used for the renovation of damaged municipal halls, public markets, barangay halls, civic centers and other public establishments.
Lucino noted that rehabilitation projects involving structures and facilities affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol in 2013 are already “81 percent†complete. (Allen Doydora)
