The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) seized shabu worth P10,000,000 and rounded up 483 drug suspects from July 1 to October 20 in its intensified campaign against illegal drug trade.

This was the pronouncement of BPPO operations chief Supt. Lorenzo Batuan during the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting in Maribojoc yesterday.

Batuan in his report to the council noted that the BPPO’s implementation of Oplan Double Barrel resulted in the confiscation of 854.45 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P10,082,522.

The anti-drug operations of the BPPO conducted from July 1 to October 15 also led to the death of 22 drug personalities who allegedly resisted arrest.

Meanwhile, 23 drug personalities were killed by unidentified gunmen.

These cases are still considered “deaths under investigation” as police have repeatedly denied occurrence of extrajudicial killings of drug suspects in Bohol.

In the same period, 751 cases have been filed in court against those nabbed in said operations, Batuan said.

Since the first day of the Duterte administration on July 1, BPPO policemen subjected 27,451 drug suspects to Oplan Tokhang which led to the surrender of 32,319 drug personalities.

A total of 30,779 of the surrenderees yielded as drug users while 1,540 admitted to having dealt drugs, the police official added.

The government will verify which of the tens of thousands of self-confessed drug personalities will be given privilege to undergo rehabilitation in the newly opened Center for Drug Education and Counselling in Tagbilaran City. (Rey Tutas)
