The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist will be inviting self-confessed drug personalities to join agriculture-related projects in a bid to keep “surrenderers” from resuming involvement in illegal drugs.

This was the pronouncement of Asst. Provincial Agriculturist Larry Pamugas on Wed. as he noted that their office has been working with local government units in implementing its own anti-drug initiative.

The project would include a tree-planting program and other agricultural activities as part of the rehabilitation process of self-confessed drug personalities.

Pamugas said that they are ready to provide planting needs of Oplan Tokhang drug surrenderers who will approach the OPA.

Last month, police authorities in Ubay and Army personnel led hundreds of drug personalities in the town in a tree-planting project.

Other towns have also implemented other programs intended for drug users and pushers such as a drug symposium and the launch of ALSA DROGA, a movement encouraging citizens to be more participative in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs. (Rey Tutas)
