Man stabbed by drunk passerby in Tagbilaran City

A fisherman from Cebu City was stabbed by a drunk man while the victim was standing along Gallares Street, Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Lester Damayo, a native of Bogo, Cebu City.

According to Damayo, he was standing outside his home along Gallares St. when suspect Joseph Arcayena, a resident of said area, suddenly stabbed him in an unprovoked attack.

The victim reportedly shouted for help as he sustained a stab wound in his stomach.

He was then rushed to Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City.

Responding police led by PO2 Rufel Mendoza said that Arcayena was able to flee and remains at large.

Mendoza added that they recovered in the crime scene the knife used in the stabbing incident. (Willy Maestrado)
