Six Boholanos were accorded the CPG Award on Friday for excelling in their respective fields of expertise as part of the commemoration of former President Carlos P. Garcia’s 120th birth anniversary.

The awardees were given recognition at the Bohol Cultural Center during a commemorative program in honor of Garcia which was attended by Marilou Valmoria-Fudalan, a descendant of Garcia, and Bohol and regional government officials.

Provincial government officials awarded Dr. Cristeta Tirol for excelling in the field of education, Emma Castillo in community service, Val Anthony Uy in sports, Joseph in arts in music and Arsenio Lagura Jr. for arts in heritage.

Alberto Dela Serna was also received a special citation for winning the Mister Supranational Philippines 2016 while CPG scholars for schoolyear 2015-2106 were recognized.

The Celebration was led by Gov. Edgar Chatto and attended by other officials including National Economic Development Authority-7 director Efren Carreon and Vice Governor Dionisio Balite.

Also present were Cong. Aristotle Aumentado, Cong. Rene Relampagos and Tagbilaran City Mayor John Yap.

Among the performers during the event was the Holy Name University Chorale which won gold in the mixed category and bbsilver in the folklore Category during the 1st Lanna International Choir Competition 2016 sa nasod sa Thailand. (Rey Tutas)
