Outgoing Bishop Leonardo Medroso on the diamond jubilee of the Diocese of Tagbilaran acknowledged the faith of Boholanos amid trials such as disasters that lashed the province in recent years.
According to Medroso, who was previously assigned in Borongan, Samar, he had seen Boholanos’ trust and belief in God in his years-long stay with the Tagbilaran City diocese.
He said in his homily during a mass earlier today that calamities including the deadly earthquake that jolted Bohol in 2013 have strengthened the faith of Boholanos.
In the celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Diocese of Tagbilaran launched activities such as the turnover of houses to around 30 victims displaced by the 2013 earthquake.
The three-day celebration which started on Sunday has also been a reunion of Boholano clergy from across the country.
Eight bishops including Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations, arrived in Bohol to join the event’s activities.
The three-day affair will be culminated in a fireworks display sponsored by the Bohol Chronicle Radio Corporation at the Cathedral grounds today.
On this day exactly 75 years ago, the Diocese sa Tagbilaran which was formed out of the Diocese of Cebu through a Papal Bull issued by Pope Pius XII was established. (Rey Tutas)
