City port authorities have claimed that discipline has been imposed among tricycle drivers operating inside the pier following the implementation of strict rules in the facility’s vicinity.
Architect Epelito Arao-arao II, Philippine Ports Authority Tagbilaran City executive assistant, told DYRD Balita that tricycle drivers in the pier vowed to eradicate the practice of overcharging passengers.
According to Arao-arao, the PPA has no longer been receiving complaints from passengers against errant tricycle drivers operating in the port area.
The reported development stemmed from the notorious overcharging of tricycle drivers in the port area which has long been a thorn in the side of the PPA as complaints on the matter mounted.
For its part, City Hall imposed a fixed rates on tricycle fare from the port area to various locations in Tagbilaran City.
Arao-arao urged the riding public to review the said rates to avoid confusion and conflict.
The tightening of security and strict implementation of rules in the port area are part of the PPA’s efforts to improve the pier in a bid to draw more tourists to the province.
Port authorities are also moving to have the tourist port accredited by the International Organizations for Standardizations. (Rey Tutas)
