An alleged drug personality was shot dead by an unidentified motorcycle-riding suspect in Brgy.Hibale, Danao past 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The victim, 26-year-old Francisco Melendres Jr., a resident of said village, was driving his motorcycle with one passenger on board when the lone assailant shot him.
According to the victim’s companion, Marcelino Sopiesa, they were on their way home when the suspect caught up with them and shot at the victim twice.
Sopiesa said that the gunman immediately fled towards an unknown direction as he and the victim crashed.
Police said that Melendres sustained a gunshot wound in the head causing his instantaneous death while Sopiesa was not hit by a bullet.
PO2 Randil Dinora, investigator of the Danao Police Station, confirmed Melendres’ involvement in illegal drug activities.
He said that the victim surrendered under Oplan Tokhang but continued to peddle illegal drugs after.
Sopiesa, however, is not involved in illegal activities as Dinora pointed out that he was a friend of the victim and not an associate in the drug business. (Allen Doydora)
