A female minor and a man were believed to have hanged themselves in apparent suicide cases in Danao and Duero. Police said that 15-year-old Ana (not her real name) was found by her family hanging from a mango tree at their backyard on Wednesday afternoon.

Ana used a rope to hang herself, police added.

She was rushed to a hospital in Dagohoy town but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Prior to the incident, Ana was reportedly scolded by her parents prompting her to skip lunch before she was found dead at 3:00 p.m.

In Duero, a 65-year-old man identified as Benjamin Genampas was found hanging from a cacao tree outside his home in Purok 7, Brgy. Guinsularan.

Police said that the victim hanged himself using a rope and his lifeless body was found on Thursday morning

The victim’s family speculated that Genampas may have been ill and was battling a disease which prompted him to commit suicide.

Duero police noted that there were no signs of foul play in the death of Genampas. (Allen Doydora)
