Members of the Sangguninag Panlalawigan (SP) will be conducting an ocular inspection of the New Bohol Airport in Panglao to evaluate its construction progress.

The planned assessment by the SP was prompted by a proposal made by Board Member Tomas Abapo Jr. who admitted that he has no personal knowledge on the progress of the P7.3-billion project.

Abapo in his privilege speech during the SP’s regular session on Friday said that the only information he has on the airport construction was gathered through media reports.

Following the proposal, the office of Vice Governor Dionisio Balite has moved to schedule the said ocular inspection.

For his part, Provincial Administrator Alfonso Damlerio II said that subcontractor EEI Corp. has started to speed up the construction of facilities including the control tower, terminal and runway.

Damalerio during the “Kita ug ang Gobernador” program on Friday noted that the hastened construction is intended to complete the project early in 2018, the deadline given by Japan Airport Consultant, Inc.

The official added that there will be a coordination meeting among those involved in the project on December 1. (Rey Tutas)
