The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Central Command (CentCom) has a new commanding officer following the reassignment of Lieutenant Gen. Raul del Rosario.
Del Rosario was formally replaced on Monday by Major General Oscar Lactao as the highest ranking military official in Visayas which has 16 provinces.
The turnover ceremony yesterday which was led by Lieutenant Gen. Glorioso Miranda, AFP vice chief-of-staff, was held at the CentCom headquarters in Camp Lapu-lapu, Lahug, Cebu City.
This was confirmed by Lieutenant Col. Dodjie Belloga, commander of the Philippine Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion stationed in Bohol.
According to Belloga, del Rosario will be assigned to the Palawan-based Western Command which oversees security in the disputed Spratly’s archipelago.
Lactao and del Rosario were classmates in the “Maharlika†Class of 1984 at the Philippine Military Academy.
Lactao was the commander of the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army which is based in Cagayan de Oro and 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental. (Rey Tutas)Â
