A female gate attendant of a cockpit in Danao was stabbed to death by an allegedly drunk suspect who was shot and killed by responding police on Sunday.
Police identified the suspect as Roldan Gumanoy, 32, and the victim as Elizabeth Betor, 49, both residents of Barangay Concepcion Danao, Bohol.
According to PO3 Tomas Turenueva of the Danao police, Gumanoy stabbed Elizabeth Betor in her underarm and right ribcage after entering the cockpit’s entrance where the victim was collecting fees.
The drunk Gumanoy reportedly forced Betor to let him inside the cockpit without paying an entrance fee. The victim obliged, police said.
However, Gumanoy immediately went back for Betor to stab her immediately after entering the cockpit.
Witnesses then alerted police while the suspect attempted to flee.
A lone responding police officer fired a warning shot as Gumanoy reportedly was moving towards him but did not stop.
This prompted the policeman to shoot Gumanoy hitting him in the head.
Police said that the suspect was rushed to a hospital but was in critical condition upon arriving the facility.
According to Turenueva, the attending physician on Monday noted that the suspect might not survive.
On Tuesday morning, Gumanoy succumbed to the gunshot wound he sustained. (Allen Doydora)Â
