The police force in Bohol is set to hold a simultaneous taping of gun muzzles next week to prevent cops from firing indiscriminately during the holidays.
According to Senior Insp. Vincent Dumaguing, chief of the Bohol police Community Relations Branch, the sealing of service firearm muzzles will be conducted on December 15 nationwide.
The masking tapes will be removed on January 4, 2017, Dumaguing added.
Taping of guns is being conducted by the Philippine National Police to avert injuries from stray bullets due to indiscriminate firing of guns.
The police official said that the activity is held each year also to prevent cops from abusing their authority.
Dumaguing warned police that they will be facing administrative cases should they fire their service firearms indiscriminately after these have been taped.
He also urged gun clubs and gun owners in Bohol to also tape their firearms during the holidays. (Rey Tutas)
