A policeman of the Tagbilaran City Police Office (TCPO) who was fighting for his life due to a gunshot to his head succumbed to his injury hours after he got shot on Saturday dawn.
According to TCPO chief Supt. Nicomedes Olaivar, doctors declared PO1 Rommel Cano dead at 3 p.m. after having his brain severely injured by a bullet that went through his chin and out the forehead.
Olaivar said that the death of Cano was an accident noting that the victim dropped his service firearm while cleaning it.
The accidental drop caused the gun to go off hitting Cano in his chin.

Cano was reportedly on his way to report for work at 5 a.m. on Saturday when the incident happened.
