Security forces in Bohol including the military and police have been placed on alert for the holiday season although no terror threats have been detected in the province and the rest of Central Visayas.

According to Lt. Col. Dodjie Belloga, commander of the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion in Bohol, they will continue to conduct monitoring operations even as the province remains peaceful and insurgent-free.

Belloga said that the Army refrains from being complacent as it continues to coordinate with police forces to maintain peace in the province.

For his part, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño placed police stations in the entire region under full alert.

He said that the PRO-7 policemen have been ordered to sustain monitoring operations even during the holidays despite the absence of direct threats to peace in the region.

However, President Rodrigo Duterte had already ordered security forces to stop implementing checkpoints in roads across the country. (Rey Tutas)
