After inviting all mayors to be in Malacañang last week, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday called upon the country’s governors to also join him in a meeting.

The gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, said Ma. Loisella Lucino, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bohol director.

According to Lucino, Governor Edgar Chatto who is the secretary general of the League of Provinces has confirmed his attendance in the meeting.

Lucino said that the meeting’s agenda was not disclosed, noting that the invitation was coursed through DILG regional directors.

However, sources have speculated that the assembly of governors would be the same as the meeting between Duterte and the mayors.

In the previous meeting held on Wednesday last week, Duterte reiterated his government’s seriousness in battling drugs, criminality and corruption.

He also again issued a warning to mayors who are involved in illegal drugs as he threatened to kill drug-linked government officials. (Rey Tutas)
