A self-confessed drug personality was shot dead in Calape by an unidentified suspect at 9:20 p.m. on Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Ismael Origenes, a resident of Barangay Desemparados, Calape who is included in the town’s baseline drug watchlist.
According to PO3 Angelo Namang of the Calape Police Station, Origenes was gunned down in front of the Calape Mother and Child Hospital in Barangay San Isidro.
The victim was reportedly having his child admitted to the said hospital before going out of the establishment to answer a call on his cellphone.
As he stepped out of the hospital, Origenes was approached by a man clad in a black jacket and face cover who fired multiple gunshots at the victim hitting him four times in the chest and stomach.
The reportedly fled immediately after the incident while Origenes was taken inside the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
According to witnesses, the suspect sped towards Tubigon on board a motorcycle which had no plate number.
Police investigators recovered fove spent .45 caliber shells at the crime scene while investigators continue to verify if the victim was in an altercation prior to the shooting.
According to Namang, Origenes surrendered previously through Oplan Tokhang as a drug pusher but continued to engage in illegal drug activities after. (Allen Doydora)Â
