Governor Edgar Chatto on Friday ordered the investigation of the alleged illegal extraction of gravel in several areas in the eastern part of the province.
Chatto, during the “Kita ug ang Gobernador†program, tasked the Bohol Environment Management Office under Samuel Racho to conduct the probe on the said illegal excavation in Guindulman and Mambaul, Duero.
The order was issued by the governor after accounts on the alleged illegal activity were reported to him during the said program on Friday.
Based on the reports relayed by Bantay Bayan Kalikasan, unauthorized extraction of gravel along a river that cuts across Guindulman and Duero is rampant.
Those conducting the extraction reportedly do not have permits from the local government units of both towns.
Chatto also noted that he will be coordinating with Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office as the investigation on the gravel extraction in said areas proceeds.
The governor then enlisted the aid of Task Group Kalikupan under Task Force Dragon, which was created by the Provincial Peace and Order Council, as part of the government’s bid to address the issue. (Rey Tutas)
