The chairman of the Provincial Board’s (PB) committee on peace and order and public safety expressed optimism over the continuation of the government’s anti-drug drive under the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Board Member Ricky Masamayor said that he is confident in the agencies’ capability to continue the war on drugs as the Philippine National Police was ordered to stop carrying out anti-narcotics operations.

Masamayor downplayed speculations on the resurgence of illegal drug activities which have been ended by law enforcement agencies as he noted that the police will remain involved in the anti-drug campaign.

He said that policemen will coordinate with the PDEA and NBI as both agencies continue to go after drug personalities.

According to NBI Bohol executive officer Atty. Arcelito Albao, nothing has changed for the agency as they continue to conduct anti-drug operations.

For his part, SPO2 Herold Bihag of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bohol said that they will focus on arresting perpetrators of other crimes.

While policemen have been barred from conducting anti-illegal drug operations, they will go after wanted persons and intensify the drive against illegal firearms, Bihag added. (Rey Tutas)
