The Provincial Board (PB) will investigate the purported abduction attempts on children in various towns in Bohol and reports on missing internal organs of a dead man at a hospital in the province.

The inquiries were set through a proposal made by Provincial Board Member Jade Bautista during the PB’s regular session on Friday morning.

Bautista, who chairs the PB’s health committee, expressed concern on the issues particularly the alleged kidnap attempts which the legislator heard of last week while on vacation abroad.

She proposed the investigation through a privilege speech to verify the veracity of the accounts despite the PB not being the “proper authority” to deliver the official findings on the issue.

“We may not be the proper authority to clear things over, but then, at the very least, we can be an instrument to clear issues and matters of public interest,” Bautista said.

The board member proposed to have the PB’s committees on women and family welfare and public order and safety to probe the alleged kidnap tries in Batuan, Carmen and Jagna, among other towns.

Last week, The Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) and Department of Education denied reports indicating that a group on board a van is roaming Bohol to abduct children along roads in the province.

Meanwhile, reports on the missing internal organs of a dead Carmen resident who was kept at a local hospital surfaced on Friday also last week. (Rey Tutas)
