San Isidro Councilor and Ex-Officio Provincial Board Member Gloria Gementiza was elected on Thursday as one of three island vice presidents of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) which has over 14,000 members nationwide.

Gementiza, PCL Bohol’s president, won as Visayas vice president over Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. by 28 votes during the organization’s national elections at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The Boholana municipal legislator garnered 520 votes while Gamboa tallied 492 votes in the poll held on the second day of the three-day event which was attended by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Gementiza’s post is the organization’s highest in the entire Visayas which has over 3,500 member councilors.

According to PCL Bohol, around 250 councilors of the province attended the group’s three-day national congress which was held from Wednesday to Friday.

Meanwhile, Davao City Councilor Danny Dayanghirang and Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Councilor Luis ”Chavit“ Singson who ran unopposed clinched the national chairmanship and presidential seats, respectively.

Other councilors who won national seats of the organization are Atty. Elmer Datuin of Bagiuo City, vice chairman; Benny Brizuela of Lucena City, executive vice president; Jay Pimentel of Camarines Norte, secretary general; Sharon de Leon-Macabebe of Rizal, treasurer; Kerby Salazar of Cavite, auditor; Bebot Bermejo of Samar, PRO; and Atty. Jesse Cruz of Mandaluyong, liaison officer.

For Visayas, Mitch Patricio of Capiz was elected vice chairman; Kathleen Cinco of Northern Samar, secretary general; Atty. Joy Pesquera of Cebu City, treasurer; Vicvic Veloso of Leyte, auditor; and Miguel Dungog of Negros Oriental, PRO. (Rey Tutas)
