The Catigbian Police Station denied reports which circulated in social media and indicated that armed men were being hunted down by authorities in the town this morning.

Catigbian police station commander Senior Inspector Anecito Alipoyo denied accounts which noted that they were conducting a hot pursuit against men who were armed with AK-47 rifles.

There are no unidentified rifle-wielding men in the town, said Alipoyo.

The chief of police said that they have not verified how the reports surfaced but noted that they knew of these through residents.

Alipoyo said that many villagers called their office to verify the veracity of the reported presence of heavily armed men in the town.

However, the police official assured the public that Catigbian remains safe as tight security measures are in place with the help of barangay officials and tanods (village watchmen). (Rey Tutas)
