The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) will be conducting a free seminar on employee benefits under the Employees’ Compensation Program for the first time in Tagbilaran City on Tuesday.

Atty. Jonathan Villasoto, regional executive director of the Department of Labor and Employment’s attachment corporate entity ECC, and Bohol DOLE officials will be leading the event dubbed Employees Compensation Advocacy Seminar.

The free forum which will be held at the Metro Centre Hotel in Tagbilaran City is open for participants from government and private offices, he said.

According to Villasoto, 120 representatives from human resource departments, company proprietors, labor union officials and other participants from the government and private sector are expected to join.

Personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Navy, Bureau of Fire Protection and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology are also attending the event, he added.

In a press conference this morning, Villasoto explained that the initiative is intended to further extend knowledge on employee benefits to the public.

DOLE officials and other resource persons will particularly address issues involving work-related illnesses, accidents and death.

The seminar aims at educating participants on the steps to be taken to avail of the program’s benefits should any of the circumstances befall their family members, Villasoto said.

This morning’s conference was also attended by other local DOLE officials including the department’s senior labor and compliance officer in Bohol German Guidaben. (Rey Tutas)
