An employee of the Land Transportation Office Central Visayas who is assigned at the LTO office in Talibon, Bohol was arrested in San Fernando, Cebu on Sunday.
The nabbed administrative aide of LTO Talibon identified as Rogelio Barbon, a resident of Brgy. Balud in San Fernando was taken into custody by police bearing an arrest warrant for usurpation of authority.
Operatives served the warrant dated July 14, 2015 at the house of Barbon at around 5 p.m.
According to Angeles Enoc, public utility regulation officer of LTO Talibon, the case stemmed from allegations hurled against Barbon while he was still assigned in Cebu.
However, Enoc did not elaborate on Barbon’s case.
Enoc told DYRD Balita on Monday that a bail of P10,000 has been set for Barbon’s temporary liberty.
An official report on Barbon’s arrest has also been drafted by the LTO through Enoc.
The report will be submitted to the LTO regional office which will determine Barbon’s employment status with the government agency should he post bail and be released from police custody, said Enoc.
After his arrest, Barbon reportedly called Enoc informing him of the situation and noting that he was caught by surprise by the arrest warrant served against him.
Barbon claimed that he did not receive a subpoena prior to the arrest, said Enoc. (Allen Doydora)
