A man deemed a high-value target in the police’s campaign against illegal drugs was arrested through an anti-narcotics operation on Tuesday afternoon.
Drug operations of suspect Reymund Bernaldez, 24, was allegedly focused in the town of Guindulman but the buy-bust was set up in Ubay.
In a report, police indicated that Bernaldez’ live-in partner who was with him during the sting operation was also taken into police custody.
Authorities identified Bernaldez’ companion as Princess Joy Pino, a 19-year-old resident of Barangay Lumanggog in Ubay.
According police, the operation which was led by Ubay police chief Senior Insp. Desiree Lavisto was conducted at the house of Pino.
It was Pino who allegedly sold shabu to a police poseur-buyer while Bernaldez sensed that it was a staged transaction prompting him to flee.
However, he was immediately cornered by backup units of the Ubay police behind Pino’s house.
In the same report, police said that five packets of shabu were found in the suspects’ possession.
According to authorities, Pino had surrendered under Oplan Tokhang but continued to sell illegal drugs. (A. Doydora)
