The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday inaugurated its new P36-million First District office in the province located in Tagbilaran City.

DPWH-7 regional director Ador Canlas led the inauguration together with Gov. Edgar Chatto, Cong. Rene Relampagos and several members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

For his part, First District Engineer Antonio Flores thanked DPWH Sec. Mark Villar who allotted budget for the facility’s construction.

DPWH Bohol’s First District office was relocated to the two-story facility near the Dao Diamond Hotel in Barangay Dao after its long occupancy of an old building near the Hall of Justice in Capitol Heights.

The old structure’s lot is now the site of the new Capitol which is slated for completion next year.

DPWH’s new 1000-sqm facility is built on a 9,913-sqm lot and is replete with an elevator.

The lot was acquired by the DPWH through a barter agreement with the Sigma Phi foundation which owned it since 1937.

Offices are located on the second floor while the facility’s roof deck was designed for official functions of the DPWH.

Construction of the new building was completed in 370 days by Mandaue-based Ascentia Construction Incorporated.(rt)
